The Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) on Saturday rescued 26 minors from the Muzaffarpur-Bandra Awadh Express after a fellow passenger notified that the railway's authorities regarding the situation.
The passenger was travelling in S5 coach of the train and suspected something strange when he noticed around 26 girls crying and feeling uncomfortable. After noticing the same, the person alerted the authorities on Twitter. Reacting to the tweet, within half an hour after the alert officials in Varanasi and Lucknow started their investigation on the matter.

Coordinating along with the concerned authorities including Childline and Police’s anti-trafficking unit, the GRP at Gorakhpur carried out the investigation. Parallel to that, two RPF jawans boarded the train at Kaptanganj in plain clothes.
These minors were travelling with two men—aged 22 and 55–who belonged to Bihar. Fearful minors weren’t able to speak, thus, the authorities handed them over to the child welfare committee. Later, the two men were taken into custody and the minors’ parents were informed about the incident.
