The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has presented unprecedented challenges for people across all sections of society. However, there is a section of the society that has been impacted more than the other. To reach out to this section of the society, McDonald's India (West and South) partnered with Salaam Bombay Foundation. The idea behind this partnership was to reach and distribute safe and hygienic food across various slums in Mumbai.

In a media statement, McDonald’s has shared that they have already distributed over 1,700 meals. These meals have been distributed in close to 10 BMC wards. Salaam Bombay has helped mobilize these meals through various NGOs across Mumbai. Both McDonald’s and Salaam Bombay have ensured that all social distancing and sanitation practices were followed strictly while distributing these meals.

Salaam Bombay Foundation has been at the forefront of the community outreach during the pandemic. The non-profit organization has been working closely with the BMC to ensure that food that is being donated is reaching people who need it the most. This has helped in ensuring that there is no duplication of donations and those in need are duly catered to.
