A month ago CIDCO announced with great fanfare availability of 26,502 houses in Navi Mumbai. But these 'affordable' houses have become 'expensive' for the poor and low income group citizens. It is clear that only 22,000 applications have been filed for these houses despite the extension of time for filling the applications. Now for the third time, the next program has been announced without extension. Therefore, it is clear that all those who applied for these houses of CIDCO will get the houses in the lottery.
As many as 26,502 houses have been made available under the 'Majhe Pasintiche Ghar' scheme of CIDCO i.e. City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra. These houses were given in the areas of Vashi, Taloja, Kharghar, Khandeshwar, Panvel and Ulwe. These houses are located near the railway station and nearby commercial centers. However, citizens were reluctant to apply for this house. As a result, only 22 thousand applications have been received for such a large number of houses.
Is the application amount too high?
The prices of these houses announced by CIDCO ranged from INR 25 lakhs for the economically backward group to INR 97 lakhs for the low income group. These houses were made available as part of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. But despite their low prices, it was said that they remained beyond the reach of common people. The amount to be paid along with the applications for these houses was fixed at INR 75 thousand for economically backward categories, INR 1.5 lakh for 1 BHK and INR 2 lakh for 2 BHK. However, even after the deadline of January 31, the number of applicants remained at 22 thousand.
On one hand, it is seen that more than 1 lakh applications for 2000 houses were received in the recently conducted lottery of MHADA, but it is being said that the response for CIDCO houses was not satisfactory.
Meanwhile, now the application deadline has ended and the draft list of applicants has been announced by CIDCO. At the same time, the final list of CIDCO will be announced on February 10.
