Land mafia have constructed 65 illegal buildings in Dombivli city area based on the registration number of 'Maharashtra Real Estate Authority' (MahaRERA), as per the reports by Loksatta. These constructions were built during the Kalyan Dombivli municipal authorities. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Thane Crime Investigation Department, which has been investigating the case since last year, has started the investigation of those officers.
'MahaRERA' and the land mafia are linked in 65 illegal building cases. The fake construction documents of Kalyan Dombivli Municipality have been prepared by the land mafia. As these documents are not directly related to the municipality, we have nothing to do with the 65 illegal building cases. The Thane Police Special Investigation Team has started summoning the municipal officials since last year for questioning.
During the last five to six years, 65 illegal constructions have come up in the Dombivli area. The administration has an encroachment control department to prevent illegal constructions within the municipal limits. This department has the system of Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner, Divisional Assistant Commissioner, Deputy, Junior Engineer. How can illegal constructions come up when there is such a strong system and what actions and actions were taken by the authorities at that time when they came up. The government has orders from time to time to prevent encroachments within the municipal limits. According to the Government Order of 2009, the Assistant Commissioner of the Division is responsible for preventing unauthorised constructions. Although the government has fixed the 'Special System of Operations' (SOP) on the guidelines to take action against illegal constructions, how did the illegal constructions come up in the Kalyan Dombivli municipal limits. A reliable source of 'SIT' said that this information is being taken from the responsible officer of the encroachment control department, assistant commissioner of the division.
Deputy Commissioner of Encroachment Control Sudhakar Jagtap (now transferred to Kokan Bhavan) and Assistant Commissioner were summoned to Thane by the SIT team last week. Sources of 'SIT' said that necessary information regarding 65 illegal building cases has been taken from both these officers. H (Dombivli West), C (Eyre Rural Area) and E (27 villages) wards of Dombivli have the highest number of illegal constructions. All the officers during the tenure of the divisional assistant commissioners during which these illegal constructions came up during the last five years will be called for enquiry, the official said.
The source said that after this investigation, the officials of the building construction controller and town planning department will ask why criminal action was not taken against the concerned despite knowing that these constructions are being erected with fake construction permits of the municipality.
