In a recent report by the Anarock Property Consultants, it has been stated that the average size of Mumbai has now shrunk by 45 per cent as compared to 27 per cent in the year 2014. The average flat size that Mumbaikars live in is 960 sqft and 530 sqft in 2014 and 2019 respectively.

Among all the cities listed in India, Mumbai has the least average size followed by Pune, Chennai, Bengaluru and Kolkata. Pune has witnessed a 38 per cent reduction in size with an average size of the apartment is now 600 sqft. 

Notably, the apartment sizes have reduced drastically even in the affordable housing segments. Mumbaikars will now have a lot of added benefits of from the builders but will have to compromise on the size.
