On the lines of the Kisan Nagar area in Thane, the state cabinet on Thursday approved the implementation of a group redevelopment (cluster) scheme in the area of Hill Bungalow, Hazuri and rest of the city's Kisan Nagar areas. This has paved the way for the implementation of the cluster scheme project in this area as well and there are signs that the actual work of the project will start soon.
In Thane, the dangerous buildings collapsed during the rainy season, causing loss of life. To avoid such incidents, a cluster scheme is being implemented for redevelopment of unauthorised and official buildings with well-planned and complete civic infrastructure. This is an ambitious project of the Chief Minister of the state, Eknath Shinde. Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) had prepared 45 Urban Revitalization Plans for this project. Its total area is 1500 hectares. In the first phase, this project is being implemented through CIDCO in Kisan Nagar and the actual work of the project has started here. Through this project, citizens will get right and ownership houses.
After the Kisan Nagar area, the group redevelopment (cluster) scheme will now be implemented in Tekdi Bungalow, Hajuri and the rest of the Kisan Nagar area in the city. This project will be implemented through the government company Mahatma Phule Renewable Energy and Infrastructure Technology Limited (MahaPreit).

An associate company, MahaPreit, has been set up to make the Mahatma Phule Backward Development Corporation more efficient and implement new schemes. It was approved on July 10 to implement affordable housing, urban planning, renewable energy, agricultural value chain, and infrastructure projects through this company. Accordingly, an MoU has been signed with the Thane Municipal Corporation for implementation of group development projects in Tekdi Bungalow, Hajuri and remaining areas of Kisannagar in Thane city.
