Mumbaikars and their love for 'linking road'

SHARES

Millions of people visit the city every year and Mumbai is looked upon as a hub for shopping. Several cities in the city like Linking Road, Colaba Market etc. are popular for street shopping. Areas like Bandra, Santacruz, Andheri, and others have several options for shopoholics.

Linking road, which extends from Bandra West to Santacruz West, is one of the most visited and loved localities in the city. In terms of footfall, this part of the western suburbs is said to the 'third largest shopping district' in the country after Delhi's Connaught Place and Chennai's T-Nagar.

History states that the locality, earlier known as Dadabhai Navroji Road, has been popular since decases and was one of the 'first arterial roads' which linked popular residential and commercial hubs - Bandra and Juhu.

At present, the hill road and linking road have become the shopping hubs in the locality, and over the years, this road has extended to different areas in the nearby vicinity. Currently, the road passes through Bandra,  Khar, Santacruz, Juhu, and Andheri.

One can find several products from stalls on the streets to high street stores, both Indian and international. On a positive note, the road, besides the shopping options is host to several restaurants, bars and clubs which offer quality night life experience to Mumbaikars.
