Mumbai’s own BEST (Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport) has announced the running of 20 additional buses on New Year’s Eve i.e. the 31st of December, 2019. This move was reportedly taken in order to counter the traffic situation that Mumbai is expected to go through on New Year’s Eve.
The authorities have come up with a plan to cover all key areas of the city, while also allowing passengers to go to railway stations like CSMT to catch their last trains. Starting 1:30 AM on 1st Jan 2020, Central Railway is making special trains available for commuters returning from New Year celebrations in the city. The inclusion of BEST buses for New Year’s Eve as well as New Year’s Day will no doubt make things easier for the passengers.
The authorities have reportedly asked the concerned Depot Managers to assign proper destination boards for buses to make it easier for the passengers to know where the buses are headed.
Here are the details of the buses added by BEST:
Bus No 7 LTD will run from Dr SPM Chowk to Rani Laxmibai Chowk between 12:15 AM and 12:30 PM. Two buses will run on this route.
Three buses from Dr SPM Chowk to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus from 11:30 PM on Wednesday to 12:30 AM on Thursday.
Five new buses from Dr SPM Chowk to Ahilyabai Holkar Chowk Churchgate Station (East) between 10 PM and 11 PM on the 31st.
Three additional buses will be added for route no 203 which will run from Andheri Station (West) to Juhu Beach between 11 PM and 11:30 PM on Wednesday.
Five additional buses will run from Santacruz Station (West) to Juhu Bus Station between 10 PM to 11:15 PM on Wednesday.
There will be additional buses running (on route No 247) between Borivali Station (West) and Gorai Creek. The buses will operate on route number 294 while returning, however.
