Uber Announces ‘Uber Connect’ Parcel Delivery Service in Mumbai

Uber Announces ‘Uber Connect’ Parcel Delivery Service in Mumbai
SHARES

In order to make sending and receiving parcels easier in Mumbai, Uber has launched a new service called “Uber Connect”. This is similar to services like Rapido that are available in a wide range of cities, but not in Mumbai.

Customers can arrange for a pickup from the Uber app, and can also track the parcel’s live location as the rider drops it off at your desired destination. Uber specifies that only goods that are under 5 kilograms in weight and can be transported in 2-wheelers are allowed. Additionally, prohibited items like alcohol, recreational drugs, and dangerous goods are not permitted on this service.

From within the app, you can also share the status of the delivery to a friend or contact. It works fairly similarly to Uber’s cab services, so the transition will be seamless for existing Uber users.

This service also allows you to receive goods and groceries from local shops. All you need to do is set the shop as the pickup location, order your groceries over the phone, and have the delivery agent pick it up for you and drop it off at your doorstep. Uber’s standard charges are applicable here, though the company didn’t specify any additional charges for this service.

While Mumbai is doing fairly better in terms of daily coronavirus cases, plenty of citizens are still under home quarantine as a precautionary measure. Services such as this can be extremely helpful in such scenarios.

Mumbai’s total coronavirus positive cases have now reached 67,586, while Maharashtra, on the whole, has registered 1,35,769 active cases.
