There are hardly 36% of farmers expected to get the financial package for crop loss before Diwali. Last month, the Maharashtra government announced a package of INR 10,000 crores for afflicted farmers impacted by heavy rains and floods in the state.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar had asked the district officials to make sure that there is a speedy distribution of money to entitled farmers.

Agriculture minister Dadasaheb Bhuse said that they had received proposals from 14 districts where panchanamas are completed. Based on the assessment by the government, they will directly transfer the money into the account of eligible farmers. The process of panchnamas is still under process in the remaining districts. After its completion, they will start allocating the money to the remaining districts.

Out of the total package, INR 3,600 crores will be credited into the accounts of farmers in 14 districts. Meanwhile, the remaining INR 6,400 crores will be credited in phases based on receipt of panchanamas. There are a total of 1.56 crore farmers, out of which nearly 36 lakh farmers have submitted the forms to attain insurance compensation for crop loss.
