Maharashtra government allocates ₹1.80 crores for 121 madrasas

The Maharashtra government has announced an allocation of ₹1.80 crores for providing salaries to teachers in 121 madrasas across the state. The money will be distributed to teachers providing their services under ‘Dr. Zakir Hussain Madrasa Modernisation Scheme’. 

Maharashtra Minority Affairs Minister Nawab Malik announced the same and said that funds allocated by the government will be distributed to teachers in 121 madrasas across the state. 

Dr. Zakir Hussain Madarasa Modernisation scheme was implemented by the Maharashtra government - Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) - earlier in 2013 with an aim to modernise these madrasas and to teach children moderns subjects including mathematics, science, language etc. 

Malik also informed that the scholarships to students are also provided who get admissions in mainstream schools. This scheme is an attempt to provide children with mainstream education. The minister said that the funds will be allocated soon to the 121 madrasas across the state.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Nana Patole also directed the school education department to pay the pending salaries of teachers providing their services under its scheme of ‘Inclusive Education for Disabled’. 

Patole said that there have been several complaints that the teachers working under the scheme were not being paid on time. The assembly speaker instructed the school education department of Maharashtra to take necessary action and ensure that teachers are paid immediately.

The Maharashtra government had launched the ‘Inclusive Education for Disabled’ scheme to bring students who are differently-abled to have access to mainstream education.
