Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Speaker Nana Patole has directed the state school education department to pay the pending salaries of teachers providing their services under its scheme of ‘Inclusive Education for Disabled’.

The Maharashtra government had launched the ‘Inclusive Education for Disabled’ scheme to bring students who are differently-abled to have access to mainstream education.

In a meeting on Tuesday, Patole said that there have been several complaints that the teachers working under the scheme were not being paid on time. Patole reviewed the implementation of the scheme in Maharashtra in collaboration with the central government.

The assembly speaker instructed the school education department of Maharashtra to take necessary action and ensure that teachers are paid immediately. The meeting was attended by School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad and Primary Education Council Ashwini Joshi among other officials at Vidhan Bhavan.

“There are constant complaints that teachers working under the Inclusive Education for Disabled scheme are not being paid on time and their complaints are not being taken into considerations. All necessary measures should be taken to ensure timely payments to teachers,” Patole said.

Meanwhile, Patole ordered to initiate the recruitment process in the higher educational institutions in the state. He said that the recruitment for over 100 posts should be carried out in accordance with the central government’s rule and regulations.

The cabinet should submit a proposal on recruitment and promotion policy to safeguard the rights conferred by the constitution and to address the injustice that has been done to the Other Backward Classes (OBCs) for the last 25 years, Patole said.
