BEST workers end hunger strike

After BEST Workers’ Union General Secretary Shashank Rao was admitted to KEM hospital on Thursday, the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) workers have currently ended their hunger strike which was going on since August 27.

The BEST employees carried out a vote where 98 per cent of the workers were in favour of carrying out a strike in order to press their demands such as salary increment, Diwali bonus and integration of BEST budget with that of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

During the ongoing hunger strike at Wadala depot, along with the BEST workers, the BEST Sanyukt Kamgar Kruti Samiti (BSKKS) leaders also participated in the same. However, during the same, union leader Shashank Rao’s health condition worsened after which he was rushed to the KEM hospital.
