In a case of welcoming news, Ramchandra Danekar, a homoeopathic doctor from the state of Maharashtra, has been travelling door-to-door to offer medical help to the poor amidst the pandemic.

According to the news agency ANI, Danekar has been travelling 10 km every day in the Chandrapur district to provide medical assistance to the poor. As per reports, he has been visiting patients for the last 60 years. Speaking to the media, Danekar stated that the service he provides is especially important as of now due to the outbreak of the coronavirus. Moreover, he added that nowadays young doctors do not want to serve the poor, especially in the times of COVID-19.

His son, Jayant Dandekar had earlier stated that the octogenarian has a fixed timetable for his visits to villages on weekdays and carries only his medical kit and medicines with him. He does not even carry a mobile phone or a watch during his trips.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra recorded 7,539 fresh cases of the coronavirus taking the COVID-19 tally in the state to 16,25,197. On the other hand, Mumbai continues to be the main hotspot of the novel coronavirus in the state with 1,463 fresh COVID-19 cases and 49 deaths reported in the day.
