By tapping to the right beats, he redefined dance with his unique moves in something called 'Percussion Dance.'

He can dance up a storm and his ardor can drive anybody to dance. Having performed at the UN Youth Assembly and after choreographing Farhan Akhtar in Lucknow Central, he is the multifaceted entertainer who certainly knows the art of choreography while striking the fancy footwork at the right rhythm.

Bharat Verma- India’s first body percussionist talks exclusively with Mumbai Live about performing with A.R. Rahman and Adnan Sami, his struggles, introducing body percussion as a dance form and more…

While describing body percussion to a starter Bharat Verma said, “According to me, the rhythm created by the soul or our mind & performed by the body in form of Dance is Body Percussion.” Narrating his experience of performing at UN youth assembly, he said, “One word - Overwhelming. I used to travel to America every year to teach at a music & dance company, which led me to perform at various places like Kaatsban International Dance Centre, Lincoln Centre, Summer Dance on Tour etc., and in 2018 I got an opportunity to perform at the United Nations for Youth Assembly. Representing India, I taught Bollywood and body percussion to thousands of young people from diverse backgrounds.”

Recollecting his childhood memories of always aspiring to be a dancer he said, “During my teenage days I learned various forms of dance like Bollywood and Hip Hop from videos and various other sources. My dad wanted me to be a Medical Representative but after failing thrice in Standard 12, I dedicated all my time and energy in practicing my art. I started choreographing dance at weddings at my hometown in Udaipur and that kickstarted really well as Udaipur is the hub for royal weddings. Even after all this, I was unsatiated as I still hadn’t discovered my forte. It came along the way when I got an opportunity to meet Vanaver Caravan in Udaipur and I was introduced to Percussion dance style and after six years of rigorous practicing I was able to create my own distinct style in Body Percussion."

I recently performed on a show for star plus and shared a stage with none other than A.R. Rahman and Adnan Sami. That feeling still has to sink in."

Hoping to make percussion a household name in the upcoming years in Bollywood songs, music albums and reality show Bharat Verma who started 'Heartbeators Dance & Fitness Studio' doesn’t fail to strike a chord with his unique dance style.
