Kalyan's first children's library reopened its door after relocating to a new home in the presence of renowned artist Geetanjali Kulkarni. The library, which is an initiative of a non-government organisation (NGO) Sajag Charitable Trust, currently houses 789 books and 116 toys handpicked for children of all ages.

The aim of the library is to promote the habit of reading among children and provide them exposure to different genres of books. It is an open, interactive and inclusive space where children can explore, engage and enjoy various creative materials besides books and toys too. Parents are constantly on the lookout for intellectually stimulating avenues for their wards. EnRead is the one-stop location to fulfil this unmet need. The library has linguistic diversity with 214 books in Marathi, 530 books in English and 44 books in Hindi.

Sajitha, Co-Founder of Sajag said: “In our mission to bridge the information and opportunity gap for children, this is a big step forward. With this library we will be able to provide children much needed information and help them build foundational skills. The wide variety of books will create curiosity in tender minds and encourage deeper knowledge seeking; outside & beyond school curriculum.”

Geetanjali Kulkarni, award winning actor said: “This is a great initiative by Sajag, building a library specifically for children. The library will help in creating an open environment for learning and for parents to spend meaningful time with their children. Providing children with exposure to so many different avenues helps them grow and learn better.”

Library membership is INR 100 per month for books, INR 150 per month for toys and INR 500 as deposit.
