Mumbai-based artist Ram Indranil Kamath died by suicide at his home in Matunga. As per reports, he was found dead in the bathroom of his apartment, on August 19, 2020.
He used to share the apartment with his mother and was found in an unconscious state at around 3 pm, on Wednesday. It is said that she initially tried to open the door but after receiving no response from him, she sought help from her family members, who then found him in the bathroom.
He was immediately rushed to Sion Hospital and was declared dead. Kamath's post-mortem reports are awaited.
Police have filed accidental death report based preliminary reports and investigation is being held to understand the case. A suicide note has been recovered from the location, and it is said that the artist has not blamed anyone for this step. However, as per protocol, the police will record the statements of his friends and family.
Actress Sushmita Sen was one of the close friends of Kamath. She took to Instagram to share a message regarding his demise and offered condolences. She wrote, "An extremely gifted Artist, unique to his core and a friend who graced my life with colors & canvases filled with divinity!! Rest in peace Indranil @instahindu Thank you for gracing my life!! My deepest condolences to the family."
Apart from being a painter, Kamath has an interest in photography and mythology, and this passion reflected in his work which was known amongst Mumbai's art followers.
