Scholastic India, India’s leading children’s publishing, education and media company is all set to host worldwide bestselling and Caldecott Honor-winning author and illustrator Dav Pilkey in Mumbai at the Royal Opera House at Charni Road East, Girgaun on November 20 and 21, 2019.

The writer and illustrator have won millions of hearts across the world with his endearing characters and books like the Dog Man series, the Captain Underpants series, the Dragon series, The Paperboy and many more. The Dog Man series has more than 26 million copies in print to date since it launched to multiple starred reviews only three years ago. The event will involve fun activities, live drawing sessions, an interactive presentation by Dav Pilkey, and photo opportunities with the Dog Man costumed character. Scholastic has planned a variety of fun activities for kids and families during the two days.

Scholastic is a worldwide media publishing house catering to children. It has been instrumental in launching a global ‘Do Good’ campaign which aims to highlight the many ways books inspire, and how each individual can help others make a positive difference wherever they are.

“The Dog Man and Captain Underpants books have become icons in the children’s publishing landscape in India. Dav Pilkey brings humor, hope, and action to all his books and we’re thrilled to have him in India as part of the Dog Man Tour,” said Shantanu Duttagupta, Publisher, Scholastic India.

“I feel incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to meet readers around the world and I’m especially excited to visit India for the first time!” said Dav Pilkey. “I’m truly grateful for the support from educators, parents, and volunteers who are spreading the important message of doing good and bringing communities together to celebrate reading.”

Dav Pilkey has been vocal about his difficulties in school when he was often banished to the hallways. This was the time when, with firm support from his parents, he began to draw and create comics. He will talk about his journey and his struggles with ADHD and dyslexia while interacting with the kids. A live drawing session will be held as well as an interactive presentation in Mumbai, much to the delight of Dav’s young fans. A photo opportunity with the popular character Dog Man will be another highlight of the event which aims to draw attention to the values that are exemplified by the author and Scholastic and to popularize the ‘Do Good’ campaign.

Signed books by Dav Pilkey will be available for purchase at the venue.
