The Election Commission of India has decided to appoint actor Rajkumar Rao as National Icon, as per the report by Loksatta. He will be appointed as National Icon on October 26, 2023. The Election Commission of India has decided to put special responsibility on Rajkumar Rao. 


Elections are going to be held in five states of India, the ECI announced this earlier this month. Now actor Rajkummar Rao will be seen appealing to vote in the assembly elections. The Election Commission is confident that he will perform this new responsibility well. The assembly election will be held in two phases between November 7 and 17 in Chhattisgarh. Madhya Pradesh and Telangana will go to polls on November 17 and 30. Rajasthan was supposed to go to polls on November 23rd but now it will be held on November 25th and counting of votes will be done on December 3rd.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajeev Kumar said that elections in the states of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana and Rajasthan are of unique importance. These assembly elections will play an important role before the 2024 general elections. 


'National Icons' make people aware about voting. Most congregations vote on their request. Before Rajkumar, the Election Commission had made former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar its national icon in August. Lok Sabha elections will be held in India next year. The Election Commission wants more people to participate in voting.
