DMart’s Radhakishan Damani Makes It to Top 100 of the Bloomberg Billionaires Index

Billionaire promoter of the DMart chain of supermarkets, Radhakishan Damani has made it to the top 100 of the Bloomberg Billionaires Index which ranks the world’s top billionaires based on net worth.

With a net worth of $19.2 billion, Damani ranks 98th on the list. Damani’s fortunes have risen concurrently with the growth of Avenue Supermarts, the firm that runs DMart.

Other Indian entrepreneurs featuring in the Bloomberg list include Mukesh Ambani, Gautam Adani, Azim Premji, Shiv Nadar, and Lakshmi Mittal. 

Damani’s other holdings include India Cements, Trent, Sundaram Finance, and VST Industries. Since being listed in March 2017, Avenue Supermarts has risen from ₹39,813 crores to well over ₹2.36 trillion. 

Meanwhile, the value of Damani and his family’s holdings went from ₹32,870 crores to more than ₹1.77 trillion. It’s also worth noting that the company’s stock has risen by 62 per cent since last year. 

In terms of future expansion, DMart plans to add 59 new stores in FY20-22. There were a total of 238 DMart stores across the country as of June 30, 2021.
