Popular home furnishing store, IKEA, is all set to open its new outlet in Navi Mumbai. The statement released by the Swedish brand mentioned that a new store will open doors for its customers on December 18, 2020. IKEA Navi Mumbai is spread over 5 lakh sq. ft, this store is 600 metres from the Turbhe Station on the Thane-Belapur Road, and will host nearly 7,000 home furnishing products for its consumers, and will offer customers an opportunity to test, try and purchase the globally renowned products.

However, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, IKEA Navi Mumbai will only allow a selected number of people keeping the safety aspects in mind. Customers will have to follow the rules and take the necessary precautions issued by the store, to ensure a safe shopping experience. The best practices for the same have been learned over past experience from global stores and the operations in Hyderabad

In order to visit IKEA Navi Mumbai, one will have to register on the website and a slot will be allotted with the date and time to visit the store. The process will be made available for the customers from the first day of operations.

While sharing more information regarding the same, Ikea India's CEO & Chief Sustainability Officer, Peter Betzel, expressed his joy and stated that 'Mumbai is one of our priority markets in India' and the firm has been operating online since 2019. However, with the launch of this store, Mumbaikars will be able to experience shopping at an IKEA store.

He added that the products have been curated and selected keeping the lifestyle in mind, and the firm expects to develop a long-term relationship with Maharashtra and create more than 6000 jobs by 2030, out of which 50 per cent will be women. Maharashtra State Industry Minister, Subhash Desai, stated that the firm's expansion in Navi Mumbai will impact the state positively and will benefit the local community

Around 1200 employees will be hired for IKEA Navi Mumbai and 50 per cent of this will be women. Furthermore, 40 per cent of the staff have been hired from areas in Navi Mumbai and 70 per cent will include support staff. 

Besides IKEA Navi Mumbai, the firm plans to open two more stores by 2021 with an aim to reach more people in the city.
