In a deal that was coming for a while now, Mumbai based airlines, Jet Airways has confirmed an order of 75 more Boeing 737 Max planes over and above the order of 75 that was announced back in 2015. The deal with Boeing will be worth between $7 billion and $10 billion.

Jet Airways expects to induct its first Boeing 737 Max, the newest variant of the hottest selling aircraft from the shelves of Boeing by the time the winter scheduling starts in the country in the second half of the year. There have been rumours that Jet Airways will use the incoming Max line of planes to not just expand to newer domestic and international routes including Mumbai-Nairobi and Bengaluru- Hong Kong but also to replace the outgoing planes whose lease are coming to an end. Jet Airways already has a fleet of 120 planes and the order only outlines the growing air travel market in the country. Beyond the order of the 737 Max, Jet Airways already has 10 Boeing 787 Dreamliner on order whose delivery has been deferred.

The Boeing 737 Max is the answer to Airbus' A320Neo planes which have already been inducted by several airlines in the country including Air India, Vistara, Go Air and Indigo. The Max variant of 737 has a range to fly for 7 hours non stop as compared to the 737 line currently which is limited to about 5 hours. Jet Airways is using the 737-7, 737-8, 737-9, 737-9ER variants in the Boeing 737 lineup currently for domestic as well as International operations.
