In the aftermath of the Union Budget 2022-23 being released, on Tuesday, February 1, Maharashtra opposition leader Devendra Fadnavis reportedly stated that the budget is a leap forward towards making the country self-reliant and strong.

According to reports, Fadnavis added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the budget presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman was holistic that accommodated the needs of important sectors and at the same time made provisions for challenges faced in India.

Fadnavis remarked that the budget provides a comprehensive welfare scheme for farmers and labourers. He believes that the procurement of one lakh metric tonnes of paddy and wheat at a minimum support price will bring huge relief to farmers.

He is also of the opinion that the budget also boosts the cooperative sector. He was quoted by reports elaborating on how the allocation of INR 60,000 crore to provide tap water in every household and INR 48,000 crore for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna.

Fadnavis also believes that the allocation of RIN 7.5 lakh crore for infrastructure was notable adding that the investments in roads, waterways, roadways are not just one-time projects that will generate new avenues for employment.

At the same time, MSMEs have received a boost with the allocation of Rs two lakh crore. He asserted that reforms towards a digital economy are noteworthy. Adding that One Nation, One Registration and 5G mobile services will bridge the gap between the hinterland and urban areas.

The BJP leader added that the Budget provision to provide INR 1.5 lakh crore interest-free loans to states will enable them to cope with the pandemic, stated reports.
