In a recent update, it was reported that 10 residents of Andheri, all from one family, have tested positive for Coronavirus and it is said that the family had attended a wedding in Surat, where they might have caught the infection. Reports add that the family had faces issues in finding beds at one hospital. With an increasing number of cases, the facilities in Mumbai are being divided as per needs and areas, and this family is said to have struggled for over 2 days to find beds in the private hospitals.

One of the family members said that they had to make many calls to these private hospitals in Mumbai, but could only find beds in different hospitals. Hence five members are now being treated at Marol-based Seven Hills Hospital and the remaining are at Vile Parle's Nanavati Hospital.

In a conversation with TOI, she mentioned that three out of the 10 patients were aged and the family did not want treatment at a public hospital. Hence they started calling private hospitals, where they faced problems due to unavailability. She also stated that BMC helped them find beds and assisted in the best possible manner.

Officials have mentioned that there is no shortage of beds in Mumbai, as 200 additional beds were added in the hospitals last week. Two days back, around 62 per cent of beds were available for isolation, however, doctors state otherwise. Suresh Kakani, Additional Municipal Commissioner, further confirmed that more beds and facilities are being arranged and currently there are many isolation beds in public hospitals

As of Sunday, April 5, 2020, 433 positive cases were identified in the city, out of which many were from Andheri West and East. While most cases were reported from Worli and Prabhadevi areas, other localities like Grant Road and Andheri were also on the top of the list with many cases. Here's a ward-wise list released by the BMC.
