The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Tuesday, May 11, said that Mumbai will face 10 per cent water cut from May 17-21 owing to a repair work at the Pise Dam, which supplies water to the city.

“Emergency repair work of pneumatic valves on Pise Dam supplying water to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will be undertaken, due to which, 10% water will be cut in Mumbai's water supply from May 17 to 21,” Greater Mumbai Municipal Corporation was quoted by ANI.

A statement issued by the BMC appealed the citizens of Mumbai to store water properly and use water sparingly during this water cut period and also to cooperate with the administration.

BMC supplies around 3,700 million litres to the city against its demand of around 4,200 million litres.

Earlier, a similar incident was reported in the month of February this year when water was cut in F-North and F-South wards that cover areas like Matunga and Dadar (East), Parel, and Lalbaug. The work was undertaken between February 9 and 10.

The supply was affected owing to repair works of Rawli reservoir. The BMC officials had informed about the same.
