A 15-year-old boy allegedly ran away from his home in Mumbai after being scolded by parents for excessive use of phone. He is said to be addicted to playing video games.
The boy lives with his father and grandfather in Vile Parle (East), as his mother has separated from his father and lives in Delhi.
According to the police, the teenager was playing video games on his grandfather’s mobile phone on Tuesday afternoon, July 30, and the elderly man informed his son, who was at work, about the matter.
Later, the boy questioned his grandfather and threatened to leave the house as his father would scold him at night.
At night, on returning home after work, the father of the Class 11 boy yelled him for playing games on the mobile phone the whole day and skipping coaching classes and not studying. This made the boy angry, the police said.
The teen’s grandfather noticed the boy missing some time after midnight the same day, stated the First Information Report (FIR).
After having a meal everyone went to sleep. At around 1 am the grandfather woke up to go to visit the washroom and then he noticed that his grandson was not there at his place. He woke up his son and the two started looking for the teenager in the area, but in vain, the FIR stated.
The police have registered a kidnapping case in accordance with a Supreme Court’s order and have begun an investigation to trace the teenager based on his grandfather’s complaint.
The police are inquiring with the friends of the teen boy to find out his whereabouts, an officer said.
