Two people were injured after a massive tree fell near B-2 metro station, McDonalds, opposite Kelan Bhavan in the Churchgate area this afternoon, August 17. The tree reportedly crashed onto four vehicles.

According to preliminary information from Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the incident was reported to the C P Control at around 12:36 pm on August 17.

Emergency agencies, including the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB), police and ward staff, were mobilised following the incident.

Further details about the condition of those injured and the extent of damage to the vehicles are awaited.

Fire Incident At IT Department

A major fire broke out in the Income Tax office at Churchgate in Mumbai. It is the headquarters of the IT. The fire, which started in the basement of this prime building, has now spread to the upper floors.

Five fire tenders have been rushed to the spot and the fire fighters have used a ladder to rescue to citizens and staff stuck inside the building.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that two workers present in the basement at the time of the fire have been rescued. Although the initial call was for a level 1 fire, authorities are making efforts to prevent property destruction, considering the office contains important IT files and is where senior officers work.
