The police and government officials across the country are conducting an intensive search to identify people who had attended the Tabeelgi Jamaat, a few days back in Delhi's Nizamuddin. This has created an alert across India and while some of them have been identified by the officials, many more are yet to be found.

As per a recent investigation, a total of 25 people - 13 Bangladeshi, eight Malaysians and remaining Assamese - who had attended the Tablighi Jamaat (Tabligh-e -Jamaat) Markaz event have been traced by Thane police station. It is said that these people were staying at two different mosques in Thane's Kausa area, located in Mumbra. Officials have confirmed that these people in question had visited Nizamuddin and attended the Markaz event. After returning to the city, they went to the Tablighi Jamaat (Tabligh-e -Jamaat) mosque in Navi Mumbai and then shifted to two different mosques in Mumbai to stay further.

In a statement released, DCP SS Burse of Thane police (Zone 1) said, "We received information that some foreign nationals were staying at a mosque in Mumbra and upon verification, we found that they had been staying at the Kausa Mosque for over a fortnight. Initially, we found a group of 13 Bangladeshi nationals and then we received further information about eight Malaysian nationals who were also at a mosque in Mumbra. We also had with us doctors from the Thane Municipal Corporation who checked each and every person present at the mosques. We have quarantined the 21 foreign nationals. Their samples have been taken and sent for testing to check if they were infected with COVID-19 or not."

Police officials across the state have located many other mosques where people have been staying. As per reports, trustees three mosques located in Ahmednagar have been booked for hiding 29 foreign nationals and for failing to inform authorities about their presence. These 29 people tested positive for coronavirus and had attended the event at Nizamuddin, and travelled to Tamil Nadu before returning to these mosques in Ahmednagar. Further, 104 people from Pune have been arrested and data reveals that 182 from Western Maharashtra were a part of the event in Delhi.
