A senior official stated on December 6 that at least 88% of the cases involving missing children in Navi Mumbai between January and November have been resolved this year.

According to the senior official, the detection rate of cases involving missing children in areas under the jurisdiction of the Navi Mumbai police commissionerate was around 88% so far in 2023.

Speaking to media representatives in the context of eight children going missing in the satellite city in a single day, he stated that between January and November 2023, up to 371 cases of missing children were reported to various Navi Mumbai police stations.

As per reports, 325 cases of missing children in Navi Mumbai, or 88% of the total, have been solved so far.

Up to eight kids went missing in various parts of Navi Mumbai over the course of a day on December 4, and the police were able to locate them all, they said.

In one of these cases, two sisters went to a temple to celebrate one of them's birthdays and returned later than expected.

According to the official, in another case, a boy requested admission for football coaching and left home when his parents refused to give their consent.

In a third instance, a mother scolded her daughter for not studying, which made the daughter decide to move out. He mentioned another incident where a girl left to visit her relatives in Gujarat without telling her family and later came back.

According to the official, in one instance, a girl and her boyfriend eloped, but the police were able to find them right away.

In different cases reported on December 5, police said that four young girls and two boys went missing from various parts of the Navi Mumbai township in Maharashtra's Thane district in the course of a day. One girl was traced out of four missing girls.

The children, who were between their teen years of 12 and 15, went missing between December 3 and 4, according to the official.

Among the six kids, a 12-year-old boy who vanished from the Koparkhairne area on December 4 was eventually located and reunited with his family at the Thane railway station, said an official.

The official provided information on the other cases, stating that a 13-year-old girl from the Kalamboli area attended her classmate's birthday celebration on December 3 but did not come back.

In a different instance, a 14-year-old Panvel girl disappeared after attending a congregation on December 3 at her friend's home.

A 12-year-old girl in the Kamothe area went missing on December 4 after leaving her home.

On December 4, a 13-year-old girl from the Rabale neighborhood left her home for school and didn't return home.

In addition, the official stated that a 13-year-old boy from Rabale went to a public restroom early on December 4 and no one has spotted the child since then.
