In a tragic accident on the Mumbai Goa Highway, nine people lost their lives in a collision between a truck and a car. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, at around 4:45 am, in the Repoli village of Raigad district.

The victims were passengers of a van and were all relatives. According to reports, they were all residents of Hedvi Village in Guhagar. They were returning from Mumbai after making a condolence visit after a relative's death and were en route to Guhagar in Ratnagiri district.

As per police, the truck, which was going towards Mumbai, hit the Eeco car when it was coming from the opposite direction on the road.

The accident resulted in the deaths of five men and three women and a girl child. Earlier, the doctors said that the 4-year-old girl was the sole survivor and was injured. She was rushed to a nearby hospital in Mangaon for treatment. Later, she was declared dead.

The bodies of the deceased were sent for a post Morten to government hospital.

The police and rescue teams reached the spot soon after the accident and the bodies have been sent for post mortem to a government hospital. The investigation is going on and the authorities are trying to understand the cause of the accident and take necessary action against the responsible parties.
