As heavy rains over the last two days had led to flooding in the water purification complex at Bhandup, on Sunday, July 18, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) informed citizens to boil water before drinking.

The filtration and pumping plants at Bhandup Water Purification Complex had to be shut due to flooding, following the incessant rains.

Moreover, due to this, the water supply in most parts of the Mumbai metropolitan area was disrupted.

According to an official statement, the civic body worked on war footing to pump out water from the plant and repaired it.

The system in the Bhandup complex is functioning step by step and the water supply is restored. Once again, the municipal administration is appealing to the citizens of Mumbai to boil water and drink it after the water supply is restored, BMC said.

Some of the areas where water supply was affected are Chapel Road Complex in H/West Division, Khardanda, Mograpada in K/East Division, East Parle Complex, Yari Road in K/West Division, Madh in P/North Division, Gandhinagar, Bimbisar Complex in P/South Division, Thakur Complex in R/South Division, Lokhandwala Complex, R / Dahisar area in North Division as well as G / Southern Division Tulsi pipe Marg in the city area, Senapati Bapat Marg area.
