Mumbai - The BMC authorities have acted against encroachment on 2-acre land at Pant Nagar Junction on the Andheri-Ghatkopar and Eastern Expressway on Tuesday. The BMC's demolition squad razed the encroachments of nurseries, parking stations, sand traders etc by running a bulldozer on their belongings. A criminal case against land mafia Mohammed Kallu Shah has also been registered under the MRTP Act. The said land is reported to be reserved by the BMC for the road, fire station, civic hospital and green belt. The land mafias had encroached this land from last 8-10 years and had erected buildings there. The land mafia had even given the land on rent for the nursery, sand dealers, parking slot etc. The concerned accused land mafia had filed 30-40 bogus cases in the court as a protection from the action against encroachment. The said action was taken under the leadership of N-Ward's assistant municipal commissioner Sudhanshu Dwivedi and Deputy Police Commissioner (Zone 6) Narendra Barde. The total staff employed for this demolition work was consisting of 50 police personnel, 20 police officers and 100 BMC officials besides 6 JCBs, 15 dumpers and other six vehicles. The BMC has immediately taken the possession of thi2-acrere plot and fenced it too. The possession of land adjacent to this plot was given to the BEST.
