As per the policy, every year before the monsoons, the civic body appoints contractors to complete road repair work. However, this year, many contractors have left the work pending, observed by the corporators. One such contractor has left the repair works incomplete of five roads between Bandra and Santacruz. Along with this, another contractor has left the road repair work incomplete at Dahisar’s S N Dube road, which he was supposed to complete before the monsoon hit the city.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued a show-cause notice to Mandeep Enterprises asking why they should not be blacklisted. This is the same company which has left road repair work incomplete between Bandra and Santacruz. Shiv Sena corporator Sada Parab expressed concern over the same issue at the standing committee meeting.

Out of 23, 5 road repair works completed

The appointed contractor had undertaken 23 roads to repair in H/East ward. However, out of this, 11 roads were supposed to be completed before the monsoon. But, only five roads were completed.

Local corporator Sujata Patekar complained about the same adding that the contractor left the work incomplete in Dahisar’s R/North ward. She also spoke about another contractor R J Shah who was handed the road repair work of S V Road’s Western Express Highway to Ravalpada. However, the said contractor left the work incomplete, leaving paver blocks in bad condition.

The work has been stopped for a while now for various reasons. While completing the work, the contractor informed us that they were teased and threatened, which is why they stopped the work. We will see to it that the said contractor will complete the work post-monsoon,” Sadhya Nandedkar, R/Central ward.
