Mumbai – The Municipal Corporation for Greater Mumbai (MCGM) has finally acted against the contractor, Skyway, for neglect that resulted in the death of a penguin at the Byculla zoo. The bank guarantee of the contractor worth Rs 1.40 crore has been . One of the eight penguins at the zoo had died on 23 October. The repercussions of the penguin’s death were felt in the MCGM standing committee meeting on Wednesday. Opposition leaders had raised concerns over the issue and held the administration and the contractor responsible for Dory the penguin’s death. As the action was sought against the contractor, MCGM authorities forfeited the bank guarantee of the contractor.
