Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is working towards making Mumbai a greener city. It has already chalked out plans to organise annual garden exhibitions and will be setting up small gardens at 36 Railway stations. Recently, BMC has placed flower baskets at Walter Dsouza Garden in Marine Lines and planted Cana blossoms in Nagarpalika Marg near Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT).

Earlier in the month, BMC had announced that it will spend Rs. 46.18 crore per year for the maintenance of playgrounds and civic gardens across Mumbai. The authorities will hire private contractors for this purpose.
