BMC officials give a green signal for the new Skywalk in Santacruz

The Bhumi Poojan for the skywalk was conducted on Tuesday, November 12 by Mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar, chairman of BMC Improvement Committee Sadanand Parab, Deputy Mayor Hemango Worlikar and corporator Sadanand Parab.

Population in Santacruz has been increasing drastically, and keeping the same in mind, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has proposed a new skywalk along with an escalator in Santacruz East. The skywalk will connect Nehru Road and Santacruz station.

Reports reveal that the skywalk will be 500 metre-long and four-metre wide, the bhumi poojan for the same was conducted on Tuesday, November 12 by Mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar, chairman of BMC Improvement Committee Sadanand Parab, Deputy Mayor Hemango Worlikar and corporator Sadanand Parab. 

Sadanand Parab had approved the project for ₹20 crores and Mahadeshwar stated that this will be the first skywalk with an escalator. It is all set to be completed within 18 months. Mahadeshwar further stated that this skywalk will reduce congestion in Santacruz East.

Santacruz East has many important places like Mumbai University and other business hubs which has increased the population of that area.
