Central Railway clarifies the reason behind additional interstate train services

A day after reports surfaced that Central Railways is to add new special trains from Mumbai to multiple states across India, the Central Railways on Thursday, April 8, released a statement clarifying that the announcement of additional trains if any to certain places is only an extension of the ongoing gradual restoration of train services.

Moreover, the Railway administration also urged everyone to avoid any speculations about this move by CR. Besides, they have also appealed to avoid panic booking of trains in such challenging circumstances like COVID-19.

Meanwhile, the CR PRO also stated that railways run more trains in summer for the convenience of passengers. However, due to the ongoing pandemic, only passengers having confirmed tickets are being permitted to board the trains.

Passengers are advised to adhere to all norms, SOPs related to COVID-19 during the boarding, travel and at the destination.

As reported earlier, officials had said that the number of passengers with tickets to states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and others has increased significantly. Keeping this in mind, railway officials are conducting screening of passengers at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Kurla Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT).

Earlier this week, Central Railway (CR) added special trains from Mumbai to Gorakhpur, Patna, Darbhanga, Faizabad, Karaikal, Burhanpur, Bhusaval, Khandwa and from Pune to Danapur.
