The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) will change 30 bus routes across Mumbai from June 1, 2025. The changes include new AC buses, route renumbering, route extensions, and rerouting. This will improve links with metro stations, train stations, and busy commercial areas. Some routes will become ring routes to help with peak hour traffic.
Route Conversions:
Route 8 will become A-8 and will have air-conditioned (AC) buses. It runs between Mantralaya and Shivaji Nagar.
Route 44 will become A-44 with AC buses. It connects Kala Chowki and Worli Depot.
Route 125 will be renamed A-125 and will now be AC. It will continue to run via Mohammed Ali Road.
Route 241 will be upgraded to AC and renamed A-241.
Route 456 will be changed from AC to general circular service (no longer "A-456").
New AC Routes:
A-175 is a new circular AC route. It starts from Pratiksha Nagar Depot and goes through Antop Hill, Vadala Church, Khodadad Circle, and ends at Prabodhankar Thackeray Udyan.
A-490 is a new AC route on the Eastern Express Highway. It will run from Mantralaya to Balkum, Thane (East).
Route Modifications and Rerouting:
AC-10 will no longer stop at Dockyard Railway Station. It will now take a different path through Hutatma Chowk, Mahatma Phule Mandai, and Bhendi Bazar.
Route 11 Ltd from Navy Nagar to Bandra Colony Bus Station will skip Jijamata Udyan, Jaihind Cinema, and Lalbaug. It will now travel through the Lalbaug Flyover and Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Road.
Route 212 from Sewri to Bandra Reclamation will now go via Wadia Hospital, Spring Mill, Bhoiwada, and Sharda Cinema.
Route A-180 now goes via Bahar Cinema, Gokhale Flyover, and SV Road.
Route 181 will now connect Antop Hill and Marol Depot.
Route A-488 now runs via Sant Narasi Mehta Marg and Asalfa Village and skips the Kurla-Andheri pipeline stretch.
Extension and Reduction:
Route 25 from Vihar Sarovar to Prabodhankar Thackeray Udyan will now be merged with Route 29 and will be called Route 29.
Route 79 from Santacruz Depot to Gorai Depot will be extended to Charkop and will end at Prabodhankar Thackeray Nagar.
Route C-71 from Mahim to Mira Road East will now be extended to Kalakilla Depot. It will pass through Senapati Bapat Marg, Raheja Hospital, and Banwari Compound.
Route A-399 will now end earlier at Maharana Pratap Chowk (Mulund) instead of its previous longer route.
Schedule and Service Pattern Changes:
A-25, which goes from Backbay Depot to Kurla Depot, will now include a stop at Rani Laxmibai Chowk.
Route 56, between Worli Depot and Yari Road, will have AC buses only on Sundays. On other days, it will use regular buses.
Route 124, which had different start points on weekdays and Sundays, will now run nonstop between Colaba Bus Station and Worli Depot every day.
Route A-89 from Mantralaya will now run from Monday to Saturday.
