156 houses in the Chitalsar Manpada housing scheme of MHADA's Konkan Board have been reserved for applicants from the year 2000. The Konkan Board had decided to provide these houses to applicants at a cost of INR 51-52 lakhs. Since the houses were being given at such a high price after 25 years, the applicants rejected this price and continued to pursue MHADA to reduce the price. Their pursuit has finally been successful.

MHADA Vice Chairman Sanjeev Jaiswal has accepted the applicants' demand for a reduction in prices. Accordingly, applicants will now be charged INR 36 lakh for houses instead of INR 51-52 lakh. Therefore, the Vice President's decision has brought great relief to 156 applicants.

The Konkan Board started the process of selling 185 plots in Chitalsar Manpada in the year 2000. For this, 185 applicants paid INR 10,000 to the Board. These plots were to be distributed to these applicants for INR 62,500 to INR 1,87,500. However, due to some technical reasons, the project was stalled. Therefore, even after 25 years, these applicants have not received the plot.

Meanwhile, in 2006, removing all the obstacles, the Konkan Board started constructing a multi-storey building on the same plot. This building is now almost completed and has more than 1000 houses. Out of these houses, 156 houses have been reserved for the applicants from the lower category of the year 2000. The remaining houses have been included in the current draw. At the same time, 29 out of 185 applicants from the year 2000 have been excluded from the scheme as they belong to the higher category. The Konkan Board announced the decision to provide houses to 156 applicants for INR 51 to 52 lakhs.

However, the applicants expressed their displeasure and protested against these prices, appealing to MHADA and the state government. But MHADA turned a blind eye to their demands.

According to this decision, the applicants were ordered to submit their consent letter by September 10. It was also clearly indicated that the right to the house of those who do not submit their consent letter within this period will be cancelled, as per the report by Loksatta.

A delegation of applicants met Jaiswal and presented their case. Applicant Hemant Pandey informed that Jaiswal finally understood the applicants' side and announced the decision to provide a house for INR 36 lakhs.

When Konkan Board Chief Officer Revati Gaikar was asked about this, she said that it has been decided to provide houses for INR 36 lakhs. However, the proposal in this regard has not been accepted yet. Gaikar also said that this proposal will be sent to the Vice President soon. After his approval, the final decision will be announced and further action will be taken to distribute the houses.
