Girgaum Chowpatty- The much awaited coastal road work is likely to begin in the year 2017. Survey was done by the Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray, MP Anil Desai, Mumbai’s guardian minister Subhash Desai, Yuva sena president Aditya Thackeray and BMC commissioner Ajoy Mehta on Saturday morning. “Next year the work will start and this will not deface the Girgaum Chowpatty. Also, tunnel which is proposed in Priyadarshani Park will not disrupt the traffic,” said Uddhav Thackeray, president, SS. Estimated cost of this project is Rs. 14,000 crores and tender process will commence in 2017.
The first phase will begin from Princess Street to Bandra Sea Link which will be ready by 2019 and second phase will be from Bandra to Kandivali Sea Link and the third will be till Ahmedabad. “We are still waiting for the permission from central environment ministry,” informed Ajoy Mehta, commissioner, BMC.
