Congress on Thursday staged a protest in different parts of the city against the rising prices of petrol and diesel in the country. A large number of party functionaries, as well as workers, voiced their discontent in protests some of which were held in Mumbai’s Borivali area.

The common man is buried under the burden of the continuous hike in prices and is further anxious with the government not doing anything in its regard. Opposition parties have been mounting pressure on the government to undertake necessary actions on the situation. Congress on one hand has been regularly opposing the hike in gas and fuel prices and thus staged demonstrations.

Citizens have been dealing with the repercussions of the lockdown on one hand and the inflation on the other, all of which has been burning a hole in their pockets. Apart from the rise in petrol and gas prices, edible oil prices are also witnessing a hike.

Currently, the cost of 1 litre of petrol in Mumbai is Rs 106.59, whilst that of 1 litre of diesel is Rs 97.18, and 1 gas cylinder costs Rs 834. Thus, the common man’s budget in the city has gone for a toss considering the rising financial costs.
