Coronavirus cases in Maharashtra have been increasing rapidly and the state witnessed a significant rise on Tuesday, September 22, 2020. Data released by the state health department showed that a total of 18,390 new cases were recorded in the state with 392 deaths in one day. These figures have raised concerns for the officials, as the tally in Maharashtra has seen an increase post the Unlock 4 guidelines were announced.
Currently, many services and activities in the state have resumed, and people have been flouting the rules issued by the government for safety and precautions.
With increasing cases, the current COVID19 tally in the state has reached 12,42,770, out of whcih 9,36,554 patients have been treated and discharged from the hospitals. Moreover, a total of 33,407 patients have died from the infection, taking the case fatality rate to 2.69 per cent. The recovery rate in the state stands at 75.36 per cent.
Out of the 12,42,770 cases, more than 2.72 lakh patients are currently undergoing direct treatment at several hospitals in Maharashtra.
Officials have tested a total of 60,17,284 laboratory samples out of which 20.65 per cent have tested positive for COVID19 until today. Currently, 18,70,200 people are under home quarantine and 34,982 people are in institutional quarantine, as per the guidelines issued by the state government.
