Nearly 6,973 recoveries in Maharashtra, 120 death; India’s recoveries cross 76-lakh mark

On Tuesday, the state witnessed a spike of 4,909 new cases. However, on the positive side, 6,973 people were also discharged after recovering. So far, 15,31,227 lakh people have made full recovery in Maharashtra and the recovery rate in the state stands at 90.46 per cent. In addition to 4,909 people testing positive, 120 patients also succumbed to the virus across the state.

Maharashtra is one of the most impacted state in India at the moment but seems like the growth is now slowing down. The number of new COVID-19 patients in Maharashtra continued to remain below 5,000 and the number of active cases too has dropped to 1,16,543.

Meanwhile, 59,823 active cases in Raigad, 54,869 recoveries and 1,405 deaths. Pune records 24,693 active cases, 3,03,665 recoveries and 6,734 deaths. As per PTI report, state health minister Rajesh Tope said the second wave of infections was unlikely but the state is ready to tackle in case such a situation arises. Tope said testing in Maharashtra had increased while the civic body in Mumbai was providing free tests at 44 places. The minister added that a decision on opening places of worship would be taken by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray at the appropriate time.

Meanwhile, as per Health Ministry data on Tuesday, the four worst-hit states Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh have seen a drop in the infection rate. On the contrary, Kerala, Delhi, West Bengal and Manipur have shown an increase in the number of COVID-19 infection between October 3 and November 3.

India's total coronavirus recoveries crossed 76 lakh mark on Tuesday after 58,323 patients recovered and were discharged in the last 24 hours, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The ministry informed that the national recovery rate has escalated to 91.96 per cent. After 490 case fatalities in the past 24 hours, the country's case fatality rate stands at 1.49 per cent.
