Maharashtra records 9,518 new cases of COVID-19

Maharashtra recorded 9,518 new cases of coronavirus and 258 deaths were reocrded on Sunday taking the total number of cases in the state to 3,10,455. 3,906 patients were cured taking the total number of cured patients to 1,69,569.

Maharashtra recorded 9,518 new cases of coronavirus and 258 deaths on Sunday taking the total number of cases in the state to 3,10,455. 3,906 patients were cured taking the total number of cured patients to 1,69,569. The total number of active cases in the state stands at 1,28,730.

The recovery rate of the state is at 54.62 per cent. More than 7.5 lakh people are in-home quarantine, 45,846 are in institutional quarantine. The state has tested more than 15 lakh samples for coronavirus to date. The state has extended the lockdown till July 31st, 2020 followed by a strict lockdown in containment areas. India has recorded more than 1 million cases, more than 30 thousand cases were recorded on Sunday.

The state continues to be the worse hit in the country. While the hotspots in Mumbai are reducing the others are emerging. Pune district has become another hotspot for the state to tackle.

In addition to this, on Monday morning, state textile minister Aslam Shaikh too announced that he has tested positive for coronavirus. He is the third person from the cabinet to test positive.
