COVID-19: Maharashtra records lowest single-day count since March; Mumbai logs 1,240 cases

Out of the total new cases in the state, 1,240 were from Mumbai. The city also reported 2,587 recoveries and 48 deaths in the last 24 hours, stated the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) data.

Maharashtra on Monday, May 17, recorded the lowest single-day count since March 30 when the state had reported 27,918 coronavirus cases.

The number of daily COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra plunged below the 30,000-mark with the state reporting 26,616 new infections, taking the count to 54,05,068, the health department said on Monday, May 17.

Moreover, 516 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours which took the number of fatalities due to COVID-19 to 82,486. The state now has 4,45,495 active cases.

On the contrary, the state registered 34,389 and 974 deaths on Sunday, May 16. In the last 24 hours, the state saw a huge decline of 7,773 cases and 458 deaths.

The health department also said that 48,211 patients were discharged from hospitals during the day, pushing the number of recovered cases to 48,74,582.

Meanwhile, out of the total new cases in the state, 1,240 were from Mumbai. The city also reported 2,587 recoveries and 48 deaths in the last 24 hours, stated the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) data.

With this, the city now has 6,89,936 total cases, 6,39,340 recoveries and 34,288 active cases. The death toll has reached 14,308.

The number of new cases reported in Mumbai is the lowest single-day count since March 9. The cases fell by over 300 from Sunday.
