The Central Railways (CR) continued its drive against ticketless/irregular travel including unbooked luggage and it has resulted in detection of 3.41 lakh cases in the month of February 2022 and realisation of penalty of INR 20.88 crore.

During the period from April 2021 to February 2022, a total of 31.10 lakh cases were detected and a revenue of INR 186.53 crore realised which is the highest in terms of revenue among all Zonal Railways. 

During the drive, 52,765 persons not adhering COVID-19 appropriate behaviour and not wearing masks were detected and INR 84 lakh was realised as penalty.

Central Railway appeals to the passengers to travel with proper and valid railway tickets in order to avoid inconvenience and travel with dignity.

Meanwhile, Western Railways (WR) recovered INR 80.07 crores for irregular travel while INR 26.92 lakhs were received as fine from without mask cases, during the period April 2021 to January 2022.

Besides, in an extensive Anti-Smoking Safety Drive as part of its continued efforts to provide safe and better travel to its passengers, a total of 751 people have been detected by the RPF and Ticket Checking Staff. A penalty amounting to INR 1,40,900 has been recovered from the offenders during the period February 24, 2022, to March 3, 2022.
