The Central Railway has decided to raise porterage charges at all stations, effective immediately. This decision follows directives from the Railway Board. The new rates depend on the size of the station and apply to luggage weighing up to 40 kg per trip.
Porters are stationed at railway stations to help passengers with their baggage. The ones licensed by the railways can be identified by their red shirts and arm badges that display their license numbers. Railway stations usually have the rates displayed at stations for these services.
The updated rates are as follows:
Service | Large Stations | Medium Stations | Small Stations |
Porterage (Luggage up to 40 kg) | INR 85 | INR 80 | Rs 75 |
Waiting Charge (Per half hour) | INR 85 (First 30 minutes free) | INR 80 (First 30 minutes free) | Rs 75 (First 30 minutes free) |

Wheeled Barrow Service (Luggage up to 160 kg) | INR 135 per trip |
