Central Railway (CR)'s Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Mumbai Division intensified the campaign against touts to counter the menace of touting of railway reservation tickets and to safeguard the interest of bonafide passengers.

The RPF team conducts raids based o­n the data received from cyber cell and other inputs. These raids are conducted mostly in the premises of private travel agencies o­n Mumbai Division

In the month of November 2023, RPF, Mumbai Division, registered 10 cases of touting under section 143 of Railways Act, as against 8 cases in November 2022.

According to reports, 11 persons were arrested under the above Act and 179 tickets valued at INR 3,78,747 were also seized from these Touts in November 2023.

Under section 143 of the Railways Act, during the current year from April 2023 to November 2023, 107 cases of touting were registered and 128 persons were arrested as against 96 cases of touting and arrest of 115 persons during the corresponding period April 2022 to November 2022.

A total of  2850 tickets were seized and an amount of INR 64,61,203 were realized as penalty for the period April 2023 to November 2023 as against 3280 tickets and a penalty amount of INR 62,15,188 during the corresponding period of April 2022 to November 2022.

A dedicated team of RPF IT Cell staff and Skill Development Centre equipped with various software like PRABAL and others provide assistance in e-touting investigation, Cyberspace surveillance, CCTV monitoring etc.

CR appeals to the passengers to travel with valid railway tickets and not to buy tickets from unauthorized agents or touts as this may result in irregular travel and may incur loss of their money besides legal action by the Railway authorities.
