On the occasion of Bharatratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s Mahaparinirvan Din which falls on December 6, Ambedkar followers throng Dadar’s Chaityabhoomi in large numbers. As Chaityabhoomi comes near Dadar’s Chowpatty, there is a possibility that Ambedkar followers might not get permission to enter Chaityabhoomi to pay tribute to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar due to the high alert of Cyclone Ockhi.

As per the Indian Meteorological Department officials, strong winds are likely to blow following heavy rains between December 4 and 7.

Water could flood the streets

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) disaster management cell alerted that from Monday to Thursday, high tides are expected and water is likely to come on streets of Cadel road and Shivaji Park.

BMC’s precautionary measures

BMC is all geared up to take care of Ambedkar followers who will visit Chaityabhoomi on December 6. We have given orders to all private and civic-run school principals of Dadar to make space for the visitors from Monday to Wednesday. Along with this, security measures are also beefed up at Dadar Chowpatty,” G/North ward’s assistant commissioner Ramakant Biradar.
