Amidst the scare of the highly lethal Delta Plus variant of the coronavirus, the Maharashtra government has decided to tighten the restrictions across the state in order to curb the spread of the contagious disease.

Moreover, Mumbai’s civic body, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has informed that the city is to remain under Level 3 of the Maharashtra government's phased unlock plan. In addition, it informed of the rules and regulations citizens are to follow in view of the variant of the SARS-COV-2

What is allowed in Mumbai?

  • Essential shops and establishments are to conduct operations till 4 pm on all days in areas falling under Level 3.
  • Restaurants will be permitted the dine-in facility with 50 per cent capacity on weekdays. Takeaways and deliveries on the weekends.
  • Gyms, salons, beauty centres, spas and wellness centres will be allowed to operate at 50 per cent capacity and only till 4 pm.
  • Movie/television shoots, along with gatherings such as weddings and funerals will also be allowed till 4 pm on weekdays. Weddings are allowed to have a maximum of 50 guests, funeral 20.
  • E-commerce deliveries will continue as regular.
  • Public places and gardens for walking and cycling will be open from 5 am to 9 am.

What is not allowed? 

  • Non-essential shops and establishments can remain open till 4 pm only on weekdays.
  • People engaged in essential services are permitted to board the Mumbai locals. Ordinary citizens are not allowed to commute in the same.
  • Gyms, salons, beauty centres, spas and wellness centres have been directed not to use air-conditioners and to entertain customers with prior appointments.
  • Malls and theatres are to remain closed.
  • No movement outside without a valid reason is allowed after 5 pm.
